PICKENS COUNTY FIRE CHIEF'S ASSOCIATION

MUTUAL AID ASSISTANCE BETWEEN FIRE DEPARTMENTS

Each of the fire departments of Pickens County has signed mutual aid agreements with the departments that it shares borders with including departments in adjacent counties. The agreements outline a predetermined arrangment for sharing equipment and personnel as needed.

Some reasons mutual aid may be activated include:

An incident larger than one department can handle
Lack of adequate water supply requiring water tanker shuttles
The fire occurred on the district line
    Need for additional personnel
Equipment failure requiring temporary replacement / substitution
    A department received multiple calls
